Here's where to look for the records most people ask about in Mitchell County:

  • Court case files: contact Mitchell County's Clerk of Superior Court, Mitchell County Courthouse, 328 Longview Dr, Bakersville, NC 28705, (828) 688-5100. Courthouse hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

  • Probate, wills, and estates: contact the Clerk of Superior Court acting as probate judge at the Mitchell County Courthouse, or see probate records.
  • Criminal and arrest records: use NC eCourts Portal and the Clerk of Superior Court for filed criminal cases, and the Mitchell County Sheriff's Department for sheriff records; see arrest records and charges.
